El Fanar is Arabic and means "The Lighthouse". The seaside resort is located at the southernmost part of the coast of Sharm el Sheikh. There is always a light wind blowing, which makes the burning heat bearable. Caution is advised, however, as the risk of sunburn is high.
Its beautiful view into the endless blue of the Red Sea makes this place so special. It is a place where many divers get their first diving experience. El Fanar has many colorful reefs filled with an incredible amount of fish and corals. Therefore El Fanar is also suitable for snorkelling enthusiasts.
El Fanar can be visited daily from 8 o’clock. With an entrance fee of 60 L.E. you receive a bath towel, a sunbathing chair under an umbrella if you like and a small water bottle. You can also get a low-priced 30 minute massage for only 20 Euros.
The resort also has two beautiful restaurants on the seashore with lots of charm and oriental elements. You can get small snacks, pizzas, as well as Egyptian dishes.
The beach is run by a hotel and therefore has music. Because of this, we do not recommend El Fanar to people who want to enjoy the beach in peace and quiet.
Other than that, you should definitely plan a trip to this beach the next time you’re staying in Sharm el Sheikh.
